Dr Levy’s specialist Fellowships were at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and the prestigious Gimble Eye Centre in Canada where he was trained by Dr Howard V Gimble, a founding father of modern eye surgery. Before becoming an ophthalmologist he trained in internal medicine and was awarded the MRCP(UK) Diploma.

His clinical emphasis is on minimising spectacle dependence after cataract and refractive surgery, performing innovative refractive and cornea procedures and using sophisticated technologies to treat blepharitis and dry eye.

Dr Levy was amongst the first surgeons in the UK to perform Lasik. Other career highlights include performing the first no-suture cornea transplant in the UK, advising the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on Intacs cornea implants for keratoconus and implanting the first intraocular lens in the UK made by Rayner (the company that in the 1949 manufactured the world’s first intraocular lens) capable of correcting presbyopia and astigmatism simultaneously. In 2018 he introduced a new device to treat blepharitis and dry eye to the UK – the Lumenis M22 Eye IPL.

Dr Levy’s private practice is at selected centres with superb equipment – Spire Hospital, Bushey and the Wellington Hospital, London. In the NHS he is at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Outside work his children are at university, providing a little more time to enjoy the visual arts, travelling and hiking and his gourmet tendencies.
